Mark Newman, Department of Physics and Center for the Study of Complex Systems, University of Michigan has published a series of cartograms showing the election results for the 2012 Presidential race. Instead of the usual maps, these are scaled for population (the one posted); number of electoral college votes; adjusted for electoral vote size, etc.
