Read what was happening 100 years ago in the March 14, 1913 issue of the San Juan Islander newspaper published from 1898 to 1914. The news: Steamer service from Friday Harbor to Sidney about to begin. And this reason for no repercussions in two cases of hunting out of season: "Nothing was done because of "hurting someone's feelings.' The offender in both cases being the son of a respected citizen and related to 9/10 of the population of San Juan County."
This year's photo of the Day series will be a bit different from last year's. The same rules - must be taken this year and in the county - apply with one exception. Once a week, a historical photo along with a link to a 1913 copy of San Juan Islander will be posted as the Photo of the Day. I hope you enjoy this new feature.
