The Vernal Equinox was at 4:02 a.m. this morning, March 20. This sign of Spring was spotted a few days earlier. Photo by Jonathan Taylor
FYI: The word equinox is derived from the Latin words meaning “equal night.” Days and nights are approximately equal everywhere and the Sun rises and sets due east and west.
This year's photo of the Day series will be a bit different from last year's. The same rules - must be taken this year and in the county - apply with one exception. Once a week, a historical photo, along with a link to a 1913 copy of San Juan Islander, will be posted as the Photo of the Day.
