Islanders and visitors lined the last block of Spring Street for the ceremony at Memorial Park to honor those who sacrificed their lives for their country. American Legion Post 163 Commander Shannon Plummer spoke about the soldier he portrays as a re-enactor in Company B and of the soldiers who have fought since the Civil War.
Kira Sable invited the crowd to join her in singing the national anthem. Plummer recited In Flanders Field.
The Elliott Bay Pipe Band performed Amazing Grace.
Boy Scouts dropped flowers into the water in honor of those lost at sea. And a 21-gun salute followed by David Eden playing taps ended the ceremony.
