This election, following closely on the heels of the November 6, 2012 general election, has led to confusion for many voters. Here is the who, what, where and why.
Because of the passage of Proposition 1 which amended the county Charter, a new county Council is being elected.
There will be three county Council members: District 1 (San Juan), District 2 (Orcas) and District 3 (Lopez/Shaw).
Three people (Marc Forlenza, ) signed up as candidatese for District 1 and three (Rick Hughes, Lisa Byers, Greg Ayers) did for District 2.
The February 11, 2013 primary election narrowed the field to two candidates for each District.
Bob Jarman and Lovel Pratt for District 1 primary election
Lisa Byers and Rick Hughes for District 2 primary election
Brian McClerren and Jamie Stephens for District 3 candidates (no primary was necessary in this district).
