At 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 26 San Juan County Council has scheduled a discussion of the process and timing the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee uses for its Request for Proposals. The LTAC decides how to distribute the revenue collected through a 2 percent lodging tax. For 2013, they recommended allocating a total of $350,000 to seven groups or organizations. Five percent went to new activites.
A second 2 percent lodging tax is used for a destination marketing organization. The LTAC is not involved in advising how that fund is used.
