Sheriff’s deputies on Orcas Island are investigating two recent school burglaries, the first reported July 7 in the old Orcas Island gym and the other reported July 10 at the Elementary School.
Property taken in the high school burglary includes new mobile radios for school buses, Apple MacBook and I Pad computers, and cell phones. Parts of the school were ransacked in the process.
From the Elementary School, a small safe was taken containing $2,268, along with several boxes of energy bars. Several hundred dollars in damage to the school was reported.

School burglaries victimize the entire community, and rob us of precious resources that are dedicated to educating local students. Those responsible will be held accountable.
