Each year the San Juan Island Library sponsors a bookmark illustration contest for grades K-6th. We invite students to design a bookmark based on our Summer Reading Program theme or a love of reading and libraries. This year's theme is Dig Into Reading.
Here are the winners by grade:
Kindergarten - Nylah Pieples, FHES
1st Grade - Ella Raichlen, FHES
2nd Grade - Lucy Marinkovich, Paideia Classical
3rd Grade - Dexter Prescott, FHES
4th Grade - Kramer Baisch, FHES
5th Grade - Faith Embler, Homeschool
6th Grade - Katy Kulseth, Paideia Classical
All of the bookmark contest entries will be on display at the library throughout the summer. The winning entries will be distributed as published bookmarks for the public to take home.
Thanks to all area schools and homeschool students for participating this year. And a special thanks to Sally Waite of Friday Harbor Elementary School for facilitating and our Friends of the San Juan Island Library for financially supporting the Bookmark Contest and entire Summer Reading Program.
The San Juan Island Library Summer Reading Program is free for all children and teens. Stop by or call the library today to register. 378-2798.
Our first Summer Reading Program performance will be held at Friday Harbor Elementary School on Wednesday, June 26 at 1:30 PM. Please come enjoy the comedy of professional silly man, Bill Robison.
Have a wonderful summer. Happy Reading.
