The issue of access to healthcare was brought to the attention of the San Juan County Board of Health at their March meeting. This month's meeting, which begins at 11:30 Wednesday, May 15 in the county legislative hearing room at 55 Second Street in Friday Harbor, includes a presentation at noon by:

Since the March Board of Health meeting, Peace Island Medical Center, the critical access hospital which replaced Inter Island Medical Center, has added Saturday hours.

The San Juan County Board of Health has responsibility over all matters pertaining to the preservation of the life and health of the people of San Juan County. This is a seven member board consisting of three Council members, one Town of Friday Harbor representative and three at-large member with knowledge of public health practices.
Note: the number of council members serving on the board will change as a result of the charter amendments changing the County Council from six to three members.
