NAVAL AIR STATION WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. –Field Carrier Landing Practice (FLCP) operations for aircraft stationed at NAS Whidbey Island are scheduled at the Outlying Field (OLF) in Coupeville, Wash., in the afternoon of Monday, January 13, and late afternoon to early evening of Wednesday, January 15, 2014.
Residents living in Coupeville and around the OLF should anticipate an increase in jet noise January 13 and 15 due to FCLP requirements in preparation for combat deployments around the world. The FCLP tempo is driven by the Fleet Replacement Squadron student training curriculum and pre-deployment carrier EA-6B Prowler and EA-18G Growler squadron flight qualifications. It can also fluctuate due to weather, maintenance and operational requirements.
Flight schedules for OLF Coupeville will continue to be released weekly for community planning purposes.
NAS Whidbey Island has a "pdf fillable" form available for the public that improves the bases ability to evaluate and analyze incoming information. The form asks users to provide their name, date of the event, time, phone numbers, call back request, pertinent address, and a comment section.
Noise from the flights is heard some of the time in the San Juan Islands.
