LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Supporting Albert Hall for county CouncilDear Editor, posted 10/27/2006 Example: Rosenfield, as town Fire Marshall was instrumental in the purchase of a fire truck with a seventy foot ladder whereas the county building height limit is only thirty five feet. Cost to the County tax payers was well over half a million dollars. Obviously not a good decision for you & me as tax payers. On the other hand I feel strongly, when elected, Mr. Hall will vote to protect the SJC property owners and tax payers from frivolous actions by our more liberal minded politicians. I wish I could have responded to the candidates' night questions about "the difference between a citizen and a tax payer". The difference is that citizens collectively decide what they want while only the tax payer must pay for it. And, in this county as a tax payer, I am delighted at the prospect of having a councilman whose intention is to give primary concern to the taxpayer and judicial use of their hard earned tax dollars. Letter writer Brash was not incorrect to call Mr. Hall a "rigid ideolog". Hall's ideology is that of the founding fathers of this great country, and unlike Mr. Hall's liberal critics, most islanders firmly agree with Mr. Hall's statements. A vote for Mr. Hall is a vote for personal property rights, a restraint on taxes and a judicial use of the tax payer's money when it is disbursed by government. Virgil HennenFriday Harbor |
