A Happy 80th Birthday Surprise for Helen Betts

Three dozen of Helen Betts' relatives converged on Friday Harbor Saturday morning for a surprise 80th birthday party. Buoyed by two large bouquets of balloons they walked up to her apartment. It was a surprise alright -- the birthday girl was in the laundry room folding clothes.
"There's no rest for the wicked even on their 80th birthday," Helen joked after hugging everyone.
Helen and her husband Don of 51 years have three children, Earl, Dione and Bette; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Three relatives live on San Juan Island -- Bette Brown, her daughter Pam Gomsrud and her grandson Aaron. "I'm well blessed with a big family," said Helen.
