Friday Harbor Airport begins FAA-funded fence upgrade
posted 12/01/03
PRESS RELEASE: Guyline Construction of Burlington began work last week on a fence and gate upgrade project at the Friday Harbor Airport. Guyline was the sole and therefore the low bidder on the $212,000 project. The project will complete the installation of a top rail, outriggers and three strands of barbed wire that was started in 1995. Also included in this project is replacement of mechanical security locks with electronic keypads and repair of damaged posts and fencing material. When complete, the fencing will meet all FAA and TSA requirements for commercial service airports.
Ninety percent of the project is paid for by FAA entitlement funds which are allocated to our airport each year. Last year the airport received over one million dollars in its entitlement appropriation.
