Friday Harbor Port District Port Commission Special Meeting Wednesday, November 6th, 2002 Minutes

These are the minutes of the November 6 Friday Harbor Port Commission Special Meeting held at the San Juan Island Yacht Club.

Port Commissioners attending were Greg Hertel, Mike Ahrenius and Brian Calvert.

Staff attending were Port Director Steve Simpson, Auditor Marilyn O'Connor, Airport Operations Manager Pat Mayo and Harbormaster Ed Barrett.

The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m.

1. Approve the minutes of the previous meeting: Brian Calvert moved to approve the minutes of the October 23, 2002 meeting; Mike Ahrenius seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

2. Approve warrants: Brian Calvert moved to pay warrants #G20688-717 in the amount of $21,479.65 and #C20070-072 in the amount of $677.06. Mike Ahrenius seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

3. Review and approve assignment of the Friday Harbor Seafood slip: Eric and Brenda Wagner presented the Port Commission with numerous letters of recommendation showing over 25 years experience in the grocery industry. Ed Barrett reported that he had studied the Wagner's financial statement and it appears that they are well capitalized for the business. Greg Hertel moved to place the Wagners at the head of the waitlist for this slip and to direct staff to execute a moorage license agreement. Brian Calvert seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

4. Review and approve design changes for Front Street Turnaround project: Marilyn O'Connor presented the Port Commission with two designs for the project. One design used only the area involved in the Unocal cleanup area with a reduced parking plan. Greg Hertel moved to approve the design, Mike Ahrenius seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

At 5:30 the meeting was recessed. The Port Commission and staff moved to the Mullis Center to review plans of the Washington State Ferry landing improvement project. The meeting was reconvened at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
