Paddleboat use in marina must stop07/12/01
Greenway has leased a commercial moorage slip since April 1998. He has not operated a business out of it until this year when he ran a few charters and started renting out the paddle boats. Port Commissioner Brian Calvert told Greenway he must cease his charter operations until he has the proper insurance and a signed commercial moorage agreement with the port. The paddle boats are not currently allowed under any conditions. Calvert said the port will consider developing an area for commercial operation of self-propelled vessels. "It won't happen this year," he said at the July 11 port meeting. The port adopted an updated commercial moorage agreement last summer: " Because there are a limited number of berths which can be used by businesses the Port Commission want to be sure each is used by businesses which actively contribute jobs and income to our community." Calvert suggested Greenway might want to consider giving up the commercial slip. |
