Raylee Brooke Miniken was born on December 6, 2002 at 8:48 a.m to her loving family at Island Hospital, Anacortes. She is the daughter of Shannon and Jason Miniken of San Juan Island and weighed 7 lbs, 14.5 oz., 21 inches long.

Charles Leighton Zehner and Benjamin Holmes Zehner arrived safely in this world on July 26, 2002 at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. Charlie arrived at 10:02 a.m. weighing 5 pounds, 2 ounces. Ben followed soon after at 10:04 a.m. weighing 5 pounds, 10 ounces. Ecstatic parents are Scott and Tori Zehner of Friday Harbor. Grandparents are Lee Holmes and Wayne F. Holmes of Nantucket, MA, Margaret Zehner of Wayne, PA and Louis Zehner of Palm City, FL. Tori and Scott wish to thank everyone who offered their support and well wishes through out Tori's pregnancy.

Kyle James Hoyt was born June 26, 2002 in Skagit Valley Hospital. The son of Heather Hall Hoyt and James D. Hoyt weighted 8 lbs 1 oz. and was 20 inches long. Kyle joins sister Kristina at home in Sedro Woolley. Grandparents are Roger and Irene Hall of Friday Harbor and Virginia Prigge of Yelm and Mike Hoyt of Republic.

Lauren Elizabeth Grout was born October 6, 2001. The daughter of Zachary and Anne Grout of Mill Creek weighed in at at 7lbs. 8ozs. Proud grandparents include Dick and Susan Grout of Friday Harbor and Betty and Ben Harmon of Fort Myers, Fla.

Josephine Faith Crosby was born Dec. 31, 2001. The daughter of Annette Dahlquist and Bill Crosby weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz and was 20 inches long. She is a fourth generation islander. Her grandparents are William Crosby of Friday Harbor, David and Maryann Anderson of Friday Harbor. She joins her sister Mallory at home in the San Juans.

Weston Leith Swirtz was born June 30, 2002. The son of Casey and Cliff Swirtz weighed 7lbs. 10 oz. He joins his two-year-old brother Wade. Grandparents are Denny and Pat Swirtz of Stuart Island and Dick and Mary Wade of Friday Harbor.


Levi Doenges was born August 22, 2001 at Evergreen hospital. He is the son of Tom and Tami Doenges of San Juan Island. Levi weighed 7 lbs. 3oz. and was 20 1/4 inches long.

Brandon Allan Payne was born at 7:36 p.m. April 23, 2001 in Skagit Valley Hospital, Mount Vernon. The son of Jared and Michelle Payne of Friday Harbor weighed 6 lbs 11.3 oz and was 19.5 inches. Grandparents are Lee and Linda Marble of Friday Harbor and Jack and Nancy Bly of Camano Island. Great-grandparents are Dave and Elizabeth Hoisington of Friday Harbor and Bill and Lillian Usery of Roundup, Montana.

Anthony John Kurtz was born at 7:12 p.m. March 30, 2001 in Skagit Hospital. He weighed 8 lbs.7oz. and was 20 inches long. His parents,John and Cassandra Kurtz, his 5-year-old brother Alec and grandparents Lee and Linda Marble all live in Friday Harbor.

Victoria Irene Polda was born on February 23, 2001 at 11:44 a.m. The daughter of Rene and Tim Polda of San Juan Island weighed 6 lbs, 15oz. and was 19 inches long. She has two brothers Doug,11 and Brock,10.

Dustin Douglas Johnson was born Feb. 1, 2001. The son of Matt and Jackie Johnson weighed 7 lbs 2 oz. Friday Harbor residents Kerwin and Margaret Johnson; Rich and Karen King are the proud grandparents. Great-grandparents are Blair and Vi King of Friday Harbor and Doug and Corinne Johson of Florence Arizona.
