David Starck Pranger

April 14, 1932 - March 18, 2006

David Starck Pranger, age 73 of Clinton, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at his home in Clinton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday 10:30 AM at Prince of Peace Parish – Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be Wednesday 3-7:30 PM at the Pape Funeral Home, where a 3:15 PM vigil service will be recited, and Thursday 9:30 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Casket bearers and gift bearers will be his grandchildren.

David was born on April 14, 1932 in Clinton, IA, the son of Charles and Anna (Starck) Pranger. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1950. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1954.

David married Teresa McDonnell on July 14, 1956 at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. He worked for the City of Clinton as a waste water treatment operator, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish. He was a member of the Clinton AMVETS, Eagles Club, and enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening and sitting by the river with his friends.

David is survived by his wife, Teresa Pranger of Clinton; three sons, William (Lori) Pranger of Clinton, Matthew (Sharon) Pranger of Friday Harbor, WA, and Mark (Sandy) Pranger of Des Moines, IA; three daughters, Mrs. Pamela (John) Kostle of Walford, IA, Kathryn Pranger of Keller, TX, Lois Byers of Marion, IA; 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Charles.
