Doris Margaret HartmanMarch 9, 1922 - February 22, 2007 Doris Margaret Hartman, 84, of Ferndale, Washington, died Thursday, February 22, 2007 at home, with her family beside her. She was born on March 9, 1922 in Woodside, Louisiana, the daughter of Curtis and Lovenia (Bordelon) Dufour. Doris was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was proud of her Cajun French heritage and her family. Doris always put others needs before her own, with unconditional loving kindness, in prayer and deed. She was a faithful Catholic and a member of the Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the choir. Doris also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 163. She was employed with the Friday Harbor schools, feeding the children of the Island, not only in bread, but also in spirit. Doris loved cooking, baking, gardening, crewel work, sewing, candle making, flower arranging, acting, singing, dancing, and serving others. She performed in many musicals and plays with the Community Theatre Group of San Juan Island. Doris was a most fun-loving and spirited lady and will be greatly missed! Doris is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Reggie Dufour and CJ Dufour; and sister, Barbara Willoz. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, C. Howard Hartman of Ferndale, WA; sons, Mark G. Hartman of Seattle, WA, Wayne P. Hartman and daughter-in-law Joline Hartman of Lake Forest Park, WA; daughter, Mary Kay Scott of Ferndale, WA; grandchildren, Maleka, Allison, Kyle, Andy, Travis, Julia, and Lesley; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Brady, Nicole, and Sean; brother, O’Hern Dufour of New Orleans, LA; sister, Betty Yost of Dallas Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2007 at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes, WA and also at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2007 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Friday Harbor, WA, on San Juan Island with Father Heffernan, officiating at both services. Interment will be held at St. Francis Cemetery following the Mass at St. Francis Church on Saturday, March 3, 2007.
