Melissa Lee (Meyer) JonesNovember 10, 1945 - March 9, 2007
Melissa Lee (Meyer) Jones, 61, of Anacortes, Washington died Friday, March 9, 2007 at her home. She was born on November 10, 1945 in Seattle, WA, the daughter of Edmund and Peggy (McKay) Meyer. Melissa grew up on Stuart Island and Mercer Island, graduating from Mercer Island High School in 1963. She attended Western Washington University and the University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Melissa married John Jones in 1968, had two children and raised them in Bellevue. While her children were young, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother and actively involved with her daughter's dance recitals and children's theater productions. In 1988 she moved to Camano Island and shortly thereafter to Anacortes. Some of her favorite things to do in recent years were spending time at Stuart Island, gardening, clearing brush, bird watching, crabbing, boating, and spending time with friends and family. In addition, she enjoyed arts and crafts projects, home improvement projects, sewing, needlepoint, collecting antiques, collecting unusual earrings, and traveling. Melissa lived life with the attitude "if there is a will, there is a way," and had a great sense of humor. She will be extremely missed by her family and friends. Melissa is survived by her son, John E. Jones of Seattle, WA and Jennifer Jones of Seattle, WA. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes, with Celebrant Linda Haddon officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the:
