Phil worked at the Port of Friday Harbor for 17 years as Airport Operations Assistant. Known as "Friday Harbor Phil", he was the go-to guy when anyone needed a helping hand. He filled the airport with joy and his ready smile. He touched many people: agents, pilots, passengers, passersby, co-workers, friends and neighbors. He was always more than willing to give his time, and could be counted on to bring a smile. He brought his special talents to the committee to elect Joan County Clerk. Phil loved to build and create. In addition to his lifelong hobby of building model airplanes, some of his latest projects included a Koi pond, tomato garden, and rose gardens at home and the airport. Phil is survived by his wife Joan, his children Christine White of San Rafael, CA (husband Jerry Cooper, granddaughter Catherine Cappelletti), William F. White of San Francisco, CA (grandson Henry), Jennifer White of Middleton, CA (husband Michael Jordan), sister Janet Belgard of Watsonville, CA, nephew Jeff Belgard, niece Carol Silva, mother-in-law Jeanne Petersen of Friday Harbor and sister-in-law Susie McBride of Watsonville, CA. The family would like to thank Houston Taylor, RN of Skagit Hospice, and Father Heffernan for their care and support. Please join the family for a celebration of Phil's life on Saturday, November 10th at 2:30 p.m. at the Dane Armstrong Hangar, Friday Harbor Airport. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Phil's memory to St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital or www.Livestrong.com. | |
