Robert Eugene NeccoJanuary 7, 1927 - April 13, 2007
U.S. Veteran Robert E. Necco, 80, of Decatur Island, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 13, 2007 in Mount Vernon, WA. Robert was born in Gary, IN on January 7, 1927. He and his wife of 54 years, Jackie, spent the last 20 years on Decatur Island in the San Juans. Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an accomplished fisherman and gardener. As a long standing member of the island community, Robert became the undisputed arbiter of truth when it came to fish stories. He also became a local authority on gardening. According to Robert, the bounty from his garden was bigger and better than anyone else's due to the fact that he didn't have any weeds. Italian through and through, Robert had a great life and lived each day to the fullest. Robert is survived by his wife, Jackie and his children and their spouses, Rose and Carl Liliequist, Jacki and Tom Patterson, Paul and Julie Necco, and Dina and Patrick Crosby. Robert will also be missed by his grandchildren, Robert Liliequist and his wife, Kami, Marianne Patterson and fiance, Julius Nudulue, Andrew Liliequist, David Patterson, Rhena Necco, Spencer Wright, Shelby Wright, Isabel Necco, Chloe Britton, Patrick Crosby, Jr., and Clara Rose Crosby. A rosary service will be held at 7 .pm. on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church with a reception following. An urn committal service will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 20, 2007 at Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul c/o St. Mary Catholic Church. |
