Stan KramerMarch 3, 1925-Dec. 30, 2001
Stan Kramer, 76, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. He had lived on San Juan Island since 1989. Kramer was born March 3, 1925 in San Francisco, California to Stanley G. and Laura (Giovannetti) Kramer. He is survived by his partner Ted Soares. Kramer began his career at the age of nine studying puppetry at the De Young Museum in San Francisco and performing at a Masonic Lodge Social. Kramer toured the major cities of the United States and Europe during Vaudeville and the night club eras with his parents who helped create the Kramer marionettes. They played the Palace Theatre, the Latin Quarter, and the Paramount in New York; The Chez Paris and the Palmer House in Chicago; Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco and the Biltmore Bowl in Southern California. His second career blossomed for 25 years at NBC in Burbank. Stan worked with most major stars of stage and television including Jimmy Durante, Sophie Tucker, Carmen Miranda, Josephine Baker, Barbra Streisand, Dinah Shore and Gypsy Rose Lee. On San Juan Island, Kramer choreographed three major musical reviews -- Bye Bye Bijou, Flatfoot Follies and Hello Bijou, Hello! |
