Thomas Elton Hartman

November 14, 1931 to November 30, 2009

Loving father and friend, son of Glen E. and Mary Lee Hartman, lived November 14, 1931 to November 30, 2009. Throughout his life, he had a passion for automobiles, airplanes, and motorcycles.

He graduated with a masters in Engineering Physics from the University of Oklahoma in 1956, where he was president of Phi Kappa Sigma and voted Big Man on Campus.

He served as an Army artillery instructor at Fort Sill, OK. He started working for Texas Instruments in 1959, was on the team that invented the plasma etching process for semiconductor manufacturing, and oversaw the startup of a chip manufacturing plant in Tokyo.

In 1974, he joined Intel Corporation where he started plants in Portland, OR, Albuquerque, NM, Ireland and China. He retired from Intel in 1996 as Vice President of Manufacturing.

He spent his retirement in Santa Fe, NM, San Juan Island, WA, and the Dallas, TX area.

He is survived by his former wives Elinor White and Rochelle Harrington, his children Jennifer Kobayashi and Tim Hartman, his stepchildren Robert and Rochelle Nucci, and his grandchildren Matthew and Heather Kobayashi and Taylor Hartman.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
