The Town of Friday Harbor and San Juan Island fire departments provided a variety of hands on fire safety lessons for students at Friday Harbor Elementary School during fire safety week Oct. 6-11, 2003.

Andrew Teasdale instructs Fifth Graders in the safe use of a fire extinguisher under the watchful eyes of Carolyn Hudson and Battalion Chief Frank Chaffee.

Lieutenant Joe Schilling instructs third grade students on the safe way to exit a smoke filled bedroom as they await their turn to crawl through the "smoke house".
