After the Braves scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, the Wolverines went scoreless until Timmy Aylward started the third-inning rally. He reached base by beating out a dropped third-strike. Damon Woodward and Peter Shanks hit singles for the Wolverines. Brady Ryan smacked a sacrifice fly and Elliot Thomsen placed a sacrifice bunt. Andrew Westphalen ripped a triple in the fourth and scored on Fletcher Vynne’s single. Aylward, the Wolverines’ right-fielder, helped prevent the Braves from scoring in the sixth. By catching a pop-up and rocketing the ball into the infield, a Braves’ runner remained at third. The Wolverines also picked off a runner in the seventh. Friday Harbor remains in second place at 5-1 in league. The Wolverines are 7-1 overall. Friday Harbor baseball squad shuts out OrcasFriday Harbor scored eight runs in the first inning at Orcas Tuesday, April 8, 2003 and went on to a 12-0 Northwest A League victory. Damon Woodward rapped a triple, double and single and drove in three runs for the Wolverines. Fletcher Vynne smacked two hits and had two RBI. Chaz Lawson, Brady Ryan and Danny Cumming each hit doubles. Adam White and Ryan allowed only two hits -- singles by Shane Welch and James Ihlenfeldt -- but the Wolverine hurlers were backed by strong defense. "We turned two really nice double plays," Friday Harbor coach Rich Warin said. |

The Northwest A League teams were tied 3-3 before the Wolverines crossed the plate four times in the final frame. Friday Harbor held the host Wolves to 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. Danny Cumming rapped a double for the Wolverines. Adam White earned the win for the Wolverines, who improve to 2-0 in league. |
