Friday Harbor clobbers Concrete on softball diamond

Cassie Brophy rapped three singles as Friday Harbor routed Concrete 19-2 Friday, April 18, 2003.

Erica Percich smacked a single, double and stole a base for the Wolverines. Megan Vynne and Lauren Brem each hit a pair of base hits and stole a base. Natalie Chevalier connected for a double.

The Wolverines improve to 7-1 in Northwest A League play.

Friday Harbor softball team batters Coupeville in 7th

Lauren Brem cracked a single, triple and home run in Friday Harbor's 18-9 come-from-behind win over Coupeville Tuesday, April 15.

Friday Harbor and host Coupeville were knotted 9-9 after six innings before the Wolverines broke out for nine more runs in the final frame. Erica Perich singled and Natalie Chevalier and Cassie Brophy each rapped a double. The Lions also walked six Friday Harbor batters.

Percich and Brandi Miller each finished with a double and two singles. Chevalier had two doubles. Brophy rapped a single and double and Megan Vynne hit two base hits.

Wolverine softball team trims Orcas

Friday Harbor girls softball team scored three runs in the seventh inning to edge Orcas 6-3 in Northwest A League play Tuesday, April 8.

"Any time you come off Orcas and you got a win you’ve done well," said Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton.

The Wolverines scored three runs in the first inning but the host Vikings tied the game in the fourth frame. Friday Harbor’s defense held Orcas scoreless the rest of the contest.

"We played defense really well," Carlton said.

Erica Percich hit well for the Wolverines and Cassie Brophy drove in the winning run, Carlton said.

Friday Harbor is second in the Northwest A League with a 5-1 record. The Wolverines are 6-1 overall.
