Friday Harbor senior Catherine Grosjacques won the long jump, placed second in the high jump and anchored two top-four relay teams at the District 1A Championships. The Five of her Wolverine teammates will be joining her at the state-qualifying meet at King’s High School Thursday, May 22 and Saturday, May 24, 2003.

Archbishop Murphy won District with 108 and host La Conner finished second with 79. Friday Harbor scored 61 and placed third. Coupeville was fourth with 37 and Concrete fifth with 13.

Grosjacques leaped 14 feet, .75 inch in the long jump -- about an inch shy of her personal best. She cleared 4-4 in the high jump and provided strong finishes for the Wolverine 400 and 800 relay teams. "Catherine’s been our anchor for a couple of years," Friday Harbor coach Greg Hertel said. "She’s done a great job."

"I think our relay team has come a long way," Grosjacques said. "If we try hard, hopefully we’ll make the finals at Tri-District."
