Island skateboarder wins trophy at Tooth and Nail Festival

Three island skaters participated in the Pacific Northwest Amatuer Skateboard contest last weekend at the Big Tooth and Nail Festival. The second annual event was held at Camp Christa at Island Lake by Silverdale.

Kyle Nolan, in his first league competition this year, took third place in the 9-10 division, landing an awesome airwalk and kick-flip fakie. He received a trophy and a bag of loot including a new hat that he later had autographed by pro vert skaters Andy MacDonald and Buckey Lasek.

Corey Nolan and Kyle Schefer( both 13) skated in the competitive 13-15 year old division. Both skaters had solid runs that included over crooks, lips slides, board slides, 50-50's and an Indy 360.

Gravity Games was there and awarded two all expense paid trips to the up coming GG to the two top skaters. Professionals Danny Way, Pierre Luc Gagnon, John Rattray and Malcom Watson were also there for the big vert demo on the Red Bull Ramp.

The next Northwest League event will be at the Capital City Skate Park in Olympia WA on June 28, 2003. For more information check out the following Web sites:
