Wolverines make strong showing against Borderites

Blaine beat Friday Harbor 3-2 in close tennis action Oct. 9.

Friday Harbor's Dylan Gerhardstein defeated C.J. Stauffer 6-3, 6-1 in No. 1 singles play. Jake Byron lost to the Borderites' Lucas Werdal 4-6, 6-7 (4-7) and Kooper Westhoven-Koch fell to Craig Rothwell 1-6, 6-2, (4-7).

The Wolverines' No. 1 doubles team of Drew Allen and Alex Altman rallied to beat Mikey Allan and Kyle Dhanani 4-6, 7-5, (7-1). Jesse Kjolso and Liam Knight lost to Justin Farmer and Jack Freal 2-6, 0-6.

Friday Harbor leads Stanwood

Friday Harbor won three matches against Stanwood junior varsity players Oct. 8 and tied another when rain caused the match to end.

Dylan Gerhardstein won 6-3, 6-4 in No. 1 singles and Kooper Westhoven-Koch beat his foe 6-2, 6-0 in No. 2 singles. Drew Allen and Alex Altman shut out their opponents 8-0 in No. 1 doubles. Liam Knight and Stephen Morrissey tied their foes 4-4 before the rain started falling too hard.

Gerhardstein wins in No. 1 singles

Freshman Dylan Gerhardstein won in No. 1 singles play during Friday Harbor's match against South Whidbey Oct. 7.

Gerhardstein defeated Steven Pan 6-4, 6-3.

Coupeville downed Friday Harbor 5-0 in boys tennis action Oct. 5.

Results are: Nathaniel Mouw defeated Jake Byron 6-2, 7-5; Trevor Mueller d. Liam Knight 6-3, 7-5; James Smith d. Jesse Kjolso 6-1, 6-0; Eric Taylor-Andrew Mouw d. Drew Allen-Alex Altman 6-1, 6-2; A.J. Kuschnerfit-Bryan Harada 8-6 d. Drew Allen-Alex Altman.

Blaine batters Friday Harbor

Kohl Metzger-Bell won in No. 3 singles play but Friday Harbor dropped the four other top matches.

Metzger-Bell defeated Kyle Dhanani 8-6. The Borderites won the other matches: Scott Bianci defeated Dylan Gerhardstein 8-0; C.J. Stauffer d. Alex Altman 8-2; Peter Moskovitz-Grant Sanders d. Dan Herbert-Jake Byron 8-2; Mikey Allan-Craig Rothwell d. Kooper Westhoven-Koch 8-1.

Friday Harbor’s Dylan Gerhardstein defeated Drew Bosman 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) in No. singles action. In No. 1 doubles play, Alex Altman and Dan Herbert beat Anders Erhart and Stephan Elmer 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.

Wolverines’ top double teams win

Friday Harbor’s No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams beat their Blaine opponents Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Alex Altman and Jake Byron overpowered Jack Freal and Lucas Werdal 8-1 in No. 1 doubles play. Kohl Metzger-Bell and Liam Knight defeated Mikey Allen and Alex Cross 8-6 in No. 2 action.
