Friday Harbor golfers beat ATM

Friday Harbor’s boys golf team lost only two home matches in the past nine years. The Wolverine linksters started the 2004 season in similar manner with a home course win -- a 194-221 victory over Archbishop Murphy at San Juan Golf and Country Club Friday, March 19, 2004.

"We were one stroke off the course record that we set last year," said Friday Harbor coach Rob Sandwith.

Friday Harbor senior Matt Cowell shot a one-under-par 34 to take medalist honors. Jesse Pouillon finished second for the Wolverines with a 38. Paul Guard was third with a 40. John Hamilton and Chris Benz tied for fourth with 41s.

Marcus Duffy led Archbishop Murphy with a 41.

In girls action, Pearl Schuman was medalist after shooting a 44. Ashley Spendiff shot a 59 and qualified for the Tri-District Tournament. Sabrina Chan, an exchange student from Malaysia, and Emerald Fire played six holes.
