Friday Harbor boys golf team beats Sedro-Woolley

Matt Cowell added another medalist honor to his growing list as the Friday Harbor boys golf team defeated Sedro-Woolley 204-238 at Avalon Golf Club.

Cowell shot a 36. Paul Guard tallied a 39 and Hank Schuman scored a 42. Chris Benz had a 43 and John Hamilton shot a 44.

Pearl Schuman was the medalist of the girls Stableford-scored match, which Sedro-Woolley won 81-77. Schuman shot a 43 and earned 29 points. Ashley Spendiff compiled 21 points and Sabrina Chan had 20. Emerald Fire contributed 7.

Wolverine golfers tie record

Friday Harbor tied a team record set earlier this season by shooting a 189 against La Conner April 19 at Similk Golf Course.

The Wolverines’ Matt Cowell led the field with a 33. Friday Harbor’s other top finishers were: Hank Schuman 37, Chris Benz 37, Paul Guard 38 and John Hamilton 44.

Friday Harbor’s top three girls players better their season best by 12 strokes. Pearl Schuman paced the Wolverine girls with a 44. Sabrina Chan shot a 49 and Ashley Spendiff had a 53.
