Wolverines beat Vikings

Matt Cowell shot his best round of the season as Friday Harbor’s golf team beat Orcas 195-273 at San Juan Golf and Country Club Friday, April 3, 2004.

Cowell took medalist honors with a two-under-par 33. Paul Guard shot a 37 for the Wolverines and Hank Schuman had a 39. Chris Benz finished with a 40 and Travis White scored a 46.

Winslow Moran-Hodge led the Vikings with a 43. Bryan Rath shot a 51 and Aaron Bennett tallied a 57. Geoff Eney and Conrad Wrobel shot a 61 apiece.

In girls action, Friday Harbor’s Sabrina Chan took top honors with a 47, handing teammate Pearl Schuman her first league loss in two seasons. Schuman, a sophomore shot a 49.

Ashley Spendiff had a 58. Emerald Fire finished with a 62 for her best effort of the year.
