"They just played great. I can’t tell you how proud of them I am," said Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton. The Wolverines, 7-3 overall, improve to 4-1 in Northwest A League play and are on top of the conference standings with Archbishop Murphy. Concrete, 3-2 in conference contests, drops to third place. The Lions are 7-2 on the season. Half of Friday Harbor’s 20 players were away during the school’s spring break. The remaining 10 held Concrete in check. "Those girls just stepped up," Carlton said."Anna Anderson, a senior, saw limited play in her previous years on the team but came out and had a great game," Carlton said. Beth Kelsey allowed only two hits and struck out six batters in seven innings for the Wolverines. Megan Vynne connected for two singles and had two RBI for Friday Harbor. Brandi Miller hit two singles and drove in one run. Lizzy Herbert had a base hit and two RBI and Elena Porten drove in a run with a double. Erica Percich and Katie Shanks hit two singles apiece.
