Friday Harbor tennis team blanks Stanwood JV

Friday Harbor boys tennis team swept the Stanwood junior varsity squad 5-0 Saturday, Sept. 20 on the Wolverine courts.

In No. 1 singles action, Elliot Thomsen swept his foe 8-0. Dylan Gerhardstein edged Stanwood’s No. 2 singles 8-6 and Liam Knight won 8-4 in No. 3 play.

Jake Byron and Andrew Westphalen earned an 8-3 victory in No. 1 doubles play. The No. 2 doubles team of Keller McNairy and Dan Olshefsky won 8-4.

Wolverines net win over Marysville

Friday Harbor beat Marysville 3-2 in boys tennis Tuesday, Sept. 16.

Friday Harbor’s Kooper Westhoven-Koch defeated Nick Muller 6-2, 7-5 in No. 2 singles and Dan Olshefsky beat Ian Oehler 6-1, 6-2 in No. 3 action. In No. 1 singles play, Liam Knight fell 2-6, 3-6 to Marysville’s Joel Anderson.

Carl Schmidt and Sam Ford topped Brandon Ekstrom and David Kruger 6-2, 7-5 in No. 2 doubles action. In No. 1 doubles play, Jake Heeren and Jared Lodholm lost 2-6, 1-6 to Mike Stadum and David Opel.

Lynden edges Friday Harbor tennis team

Lynden trimmed Friday Harbor's boys tennis team 3-2 in a non-league road match Friday, Sept. 12.

Elliot Thomsen rebounded for a victory in No. 1 singles action against the Lions' Drew Bosman. Thomsen won the first set 6-4 and lost the second 6-7 (6-8). The senior notched the win with a 6-4 third set.

Friday Harbor's Jake Byron lost to CJ Stauffer 2-6, 5-7 in No. 2 singles action. Dan Olshefsky topped Reegis Coburn 4-6, 6-3 (7-5) in No. 3 play.

In No. 1 doubles action, Friday Harbor's Dylan Gerhardstein and Keller McNairy lost to Nate Louws and Rex Fraser 2-6, 3-6. Kooper Westhoven-Koch and Sam Ford were defeated by Ander Erhart and Ryn Jewett 0-6, 0-6 in No. 2 play.
