Franco wins 1600, 3200;
7 Friday Harbor boys advance

Friday Harbor senior Lucas Franco successfully defended his 1600- and 3200-meter titles and the Wolverine boys finished third at the Class A District 1 Track and Field Championships Saturday, May 15.

Six other Wolverine boys -- including seniors Andrew Teasdale and Tad Sooter -- advance to the state-qualifying Tri-District Meet Thursday, May 20 and Saturday, May 22 at King’s.

Peter Grosjacques set a new personal best in the discus and Joseph Garcia eclipsed his previous record in the 1600 run.

Friday Harbor came a point within finishing second. The Wolverines scored 46 points and La Conner had 47. Archbishop Murphy ran away with the meet with 186 points. Coupeville place fourth with 36 and Concrete was fifth with 16.
