Grone, Gossom finish 4th at Concrete Invite

Friday Harbor’s Jason Grone and John Gossom finished fourth and fifth among some stand-out wrestlers at the Concrete Invitational Tournament Saturday, Jan. 17.

"It was a tough, tough tournament," Friday Harbor coach Gordy Banry said of the tourney featuring Class B to 4A schools.

Wrestling in the 171-pound division, Grone and Gossom "just put on a clinic," Banry said. They narrowly lost to one of the best wrestlers at the invite. Grone lost only to that standout during the tournament, which had 16-person brackets. Gossom competed in third-fourth bout 30 minutes after a grueling match.

Andrea Champlin (103) finished fourth. "She had a really good day," Banry said.

Colby Leed (119) and George Meyer (189) placed sixth.
