Orcas softball season ends at Tri-District

Orcas Island High School softball team was eliminated after losing their first two games at the Tri-District Softball Tournament in Mount Vernon today (May 24, 2004). Cascade Christian beat the Vikings 4-3 in the second round. Archbishop Murphy beat the Orcas Island High School softball team 10-0 in five innings in the first round of the tourney.

The Tri-District competition was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 22 but was postponed because of rain. The results were:

  1. Concrete
  2. Cedar Park
  3. Archbishop Thomas Murphy
  4. Friday Harbor
  5. Seattle Christian


Wolverines, Vikings take another swing at tourney Monday

The Friday Harbor and Orcas high school softball teams will take another swing at the Tri-District Softball Tournament, Monday, May 24 in Mount Vernon. The state-qualifying tourney was rained out Saturday.

Friday Harbor plays Charles Wright Academy at 10 a.m. at the Skagit Play Fields, located on the northeast corner of the Skagit Valley Community College Campus. Orcas won a pigtail game May 17 against Bellevue Christian and also moved onto to Tri-District playoffs. The Vikings play Archbishop Murphy at 10 a.m. at Mount Vernon High School.

If the Vikings win they play at 11:30 a.m. at the Skagit Play Fields against the the winner of the Cascade Christian/Cedar Park Christian game. If they lose, the Vikings play their second game at Mount Vernon High School. If the Wolverines win their first game they face the winner of the Concrete/Seattle Christian game at 11:30 a.m. at the Skagit Play Fields. The top five Tri-District finishers advance to the state tournament Memorial Day Weekend in Moses Lake.
