Wolverines throttle HighlineBy Matt Pranger posted 09/13/04 "It's great to get off the season on a winning note. The kids were great," said Friday Harbor coach Richard Ledford, who enters his 34th year of coaching. Sophomore Loch Stimpson and senior David Ahrenius rushed for three touchdowns apiece. Chas Lawson, who split quarterback duties with Cole Franklin, dove a yard for the Wolverines' other touchdown. Friday Harbor's defense limited Highline to 52 yards of offense. "Defensively, I was really proud of our four sophomores who started in our secondary," Ledford said of Cole Franklin, Trent Roberts, Brock McNairy and Tyler Hart. Ledford also commend the Wolverines' defensive line and linebackers: ends Chad Stoddard and Chas Lawson; tackles August McKenna, George Meyers, nose guard Jason Grone; backers David Ahrenius, Timmy Cumming, Danny Olshefsky and Tyler Dixon. "Our coaching staff did a great job," Ledford said of assistants Greg Truesdale, Darren Scheffer, Shannon Plummer and Danny Cumming. The Wolverines travel to Class 2A Granite Falls at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2004. "Granite Falls is not big, they're HUGE," Ledford said. "This will be a real challenge for us." |
