Friday Harbor won the coin toss, opted for defense and let the Knights and their fans know they weren't going to post another rout. The Wolverines held the Knights to three downs.

After a rare Royal punt, the Wolverines started on their 43-yard line. The Wolverines advanced to the red zone on sweeps by Tyler Roberts and dives by Cobos.

On a 4th-and-8 on the 18-yard line, Tyler Roberts took the pitch and then tossed the ball to his brother Trent for a 16-yard completion. With the ball on the 3-yard line, Cobos dove forward for 2 yards before Lawson went over for the touchdown, and the Friday Harbor faithful of about 250 erupted. Dwight Ware booted the PAT and the Wolverines led 7-0 with 4:26 to go in the first quarter.

The Wolverines surprised the Knights once more by holding them on a 4th-and-1 on the Friday Harbor 35-yard line.

A Friday Harbor fumble led to Royal's first score at the start of the second quarter. The Knights started on the Wolverines 44-yard line and finished when Valle scored from a yard out. Jack appeared to slip as he kicked the extra-point try.

Cobos' 1-yard dive into the end zone capped a 62-yard Friday Harbor drive. Ware hit the PAT and the Wolverines led 14-6 with 1:49 left in the half.

Dykes quieted the Wolverine celebration by returning the kick-off 80 yards. Jack kicked the PAT and the Knights trailed 14-13. Friday Harbor went three-and-out and Royal passed to the Wolverine 39-yard line. The Wolverines broke up a toss to the end zone with one tick on the clock.

"They have never been behind in a game and they found out what that was like at halftime," Plummer said.

Hart took the second-half kick-off and returned it 87 yards for Friday Harbor's third touchdown. Ware kicked the extra-point and the Wolverines led 21-13.

That's all the scoring the Royal defense would allow as it adjusted to Friday Harbor's power sweep and dives.

The Knights used a mix of run and pass to advance to the Wolverines 4-yard line. An encroachment penalty on the Wolverines on a 4th-and-1 helped set up a 1-yard run by Jack. Valle connected with Jack for the two-point conversion and Royal tied the game 21-21 with 6:11 to go in the third quarter.

Royal scored the go-ahead touchdown on Valle's 16-yard pass to Patrick Dorsing at 10:15 in the final period. The Knights added another touchdown with 6:32 remaining on Valle's 19-yard pass to Dykes. Jack booted the PAT.
