Wolverine girls soccer wraps up season

A skilled and powerful Charles Wright team eliminated Friday Harbor 8-2 from postseason play Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004.

"The average individual ability of their team was as high as we've ever seen, " McCutchen said of the Tarriers.

"Even though we lost, we put up a good fight, " said Shay Hopkins, the team's only senior.

Hopkins booted both of the Wolverines' goals. She scored on a free kick from 35 yards out and on another unassisted shot.

"Beth Ware had a really, really excellent match, " McCutchen said. "She's come a long way for a freshman"

The coach also commended junior Sarah Anderson's performance. "Sarah's a solid, very skilled player, " McCutchen said. "She's intelligent, consistent, dependable"

Friday Harbor finished the season 9-6.

"It was a really fun, " Hopkins said"It was great that we made it to the postseason."

"It was a really great group of girls," McCutchen said.

McCutchen thanked assistant coaches Mark Fishaut and Sarah Ware for their help during the season.
