"It’s tough to lose in that close of a game, to be so close to the next level and then it’s over," said senior Tyler Roberts. |

"I think we took a step forward in being able to compete in that type of game," Turnbull said. Friday Harbor started strong and led 16-14 at the end of the first quarter. The Wolverines went cold for the first five minutes of the second quarter but Chad Stoddard’s bucket tied the game 22-22 before halftime. John Hamilton, the Wolverines top rebounder, was charged with his third foul seconds into the second half. Before Turnbull could get Hamilton out of the game, Friday Harbor’s big man was whistled for his fourth penalty a minute into the period. The Warriors, who averaged probably three or four inches taller than the Wolverines, spurted ahead but Stoddard drilled back-to-back three-pointers to keep the Wolverines in the game. "For us to come out and start as well as we did was nice to see," Turnbull said. Tyler Hart sank a couple of free-throws to trim Seattle Christian’s lead to 43-40 with three minutes to go in the game. Tyler Roberts’ steal ended with Robbie Roe sinking a pair of free-throws. Roberts caused a turnover and canned two free-throws to give the Wolverines a 44-43 lead with 1:47 remaining. "To be down 8 and to come back and take the lead…. We just competed and battled hard," Turnbull said. "We had them on their toes for a while there," Roberts said. "We came out with high intensity and we did a good job of keeping up all game." The Warriors went 7-for-10 at the free-throw line while the Wolverines struggled offensively down the stretch. Friday Harbor finished the season 14-5 overall and 9-5 in league play. Seattle Christian advanced to the state tourney by topping Cascade Christian Feb. 26. "It’s frustrating that they (Friday Harbor players) won’t experience the joy of winning like that," Turnbull said. Roberts scored 6 points in his final game in a Wolverine uniform. "He’s been a real quality person to coach," Turnbull said. "He worked as hard or harder in basketball," Turnbull said. "He never let down." Chad Stoddard led the Wolverines with 13. Eric Rothlisberger scored 7. Hamilton and Robby Rowe each contributed 6 points apiece. Hart had 4 and Dylan Gerhardstein and Paul Guard each pitched in 2.
