Friday Harbor beats CoupevilleBy Coach D.A. McCutchen posted 10/10/05
At the 28th minute the Wolves were able to find an free player on a corner who managed to put the ball away. The Wolves surged with confidence after getting on the scoreboard sending a relentless attack against Friday Harbor's defense. Sophomore Amanda Root showed great promise as an outside defender, winning balls neatly and supporting the attack. At halftime the Wolverines captains reorganized the team and boosted their confidence. They started the second half with a flurry of passes and shots with Elena Porten being rewarded at the 43rd minute with a shot which just snuck by the Wolves goalkeeper. If the spark was lit at halftime, the fire started to blaze with that goal. Lillan Roquet played a brilliant game, defending with skill and orchestrating much of the Wolverine offense. She earned two unassisted goals in the five minutes following the first goal. Hanna Burke, Alinson Nash, and Kylie Foster also came alive in the second half as they worked the ball up the left side of the field. Burke created three seperate opportunities on goal which narrowly missed dropping into the net. Freshman Ingrid Carlson also had a fine performance in an attacking role. Friday Harbor's next game will be at Concrete on Thursday, October 13th. On Saturday the 15th they will travel to Seattle Lutheran for a friendly. Score: FH 3, C 1 Scoring:
