Friday Harbor softball team opens season with win

Beth Ware tripled in the winning run in Friday Harbor's 4-3 season-opening victory at Sultan Tuesday, March 14.
"For our first real game of the season, they played really, really well," Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton said of the Wolverines.
Beth Kelsey earned the win. She struck out 8, walked 2 and gave up 3 hits. Alysa Kelsey went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Wolverines.
The Wolverines and Turks were knotted 3-3 in the top of the sixth inning. Katie Shanks, who singled in a run in the first inning, reached base on balls. Ware drove her in with her triple to the wall.
