Friday Harbor softball team splits with Cedar Park Christian

Friday Harbor senior Katie Shanks rapped a game-winning triple as Friday Harbor rallied for a 8-7 victory in the second game of a doubleheader against Cedar Park Christian Saturday, April 8 in Anacortes. The Cougars won the first game 6-1.


Wolverine softball team topples Loggers 5-1

Friday Harbor’s Beth Kelsey continued her command over batters, striking out 12 and allowing only one hit as the Wolverines softball team beat Darrington 5-1 Tuesday, April 4, 2006.

Kelsey has fanned 37 batters In Friday Harbor’s three Northwest A/B League victories this season. "Beth’s on fire," said Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton.

The senior also shined at the plate against the Loggers: She drove in four of the Wolverines runs on a pair of hits.

Jenny Guard rapped three singles for the Wolverines.

Friday Harbor went up 3-0 in the third inning. Beth Ware and Rebecca singled and Alysa Kelsey reached base on balls. With two outs, Beth Kelsey drove them home.

The Loggers scored their run in the fourth.

In the fifth, Friday Harbor scored two runs on four hits. Alysa Kelsey hit a one-out single. With two outs, Maddy Anderson rapped a base hit, advancing Kelsey to second. Alysa Kelsey scored on Beth Kelsey’s single and pinch runner Brooke Jangard went home on Jenny Guard’s base hit.
