Friday Harbor softball team splits with Cedar Park ChristianFriday Harbor senior Katie Shanks rapped a game-winning triple as Friday Harbor rallied for a 8-7 victory in the second game of a doubleheader against Cedar Park Christian Saturday, April 8 in Anacortes. The Cougars won the first game 6-1. Concrete trims Friday Harbor in 'classic fastpitch game'posted 04/11/2006
"When you give up two hits and lose 1-0, that's pretty tough," said assistant Friday Harbor coach Eric Jangard. "It was a classic fastpitch game," Jangard added. Concrete scored the only run of the game in the third inning. The Wolverines were poised to score after loading the bases in the top of the sixth inning with one out. Concrete pitcher Britt Howell knocked down a sharp shot, and throwing from her knees, picked off the Wolverine runner heading home by less than six inches. The Lions defense held from there. Beth Ware rapped two base hits for the Wolverines and Jenny Guard also singled. Jangard noted the Wolverines were pleased with their play against the Lions, who are 4-0 in league and 5-0 overall. "That was a real springboard for us," Jangard said. Friday Harbor is 3-1 in conference action and 4-1 overall. |
