The Friday Harbor players are "thrilled" to be making their fourth consecutive trip to Paul Lauzier Athletic Complex. "Our whole team is elated," said Friday Harbor coach Kevin Carlton. Friday Harbor opens the state tourney against Liberty Bell. If they win that contest, they play the winner of a contest between Bellevue Christian and Zillah at 6 p.m. If the Wolverines lose their first contest, they meet the loser of the Bellevue Christian-Zillah game. Friday Harbor scored six runs to build a 9-4 lead in the fourth inning of their victory over Cascade Christian. Natalie Chevalier pounded an inside-the-park home run and ripped a triple for the Wolverines. She drove in three runs. Beth Ware also smacked a run-scoring triple and hit a single. Katie Shanks rapped two singles, scored a run and drove in a run. Sarah Anderson singled in a run and Beth Kelsey, Kiersten Radden also had base hits. Cedar Park Christian "hit the ball really well" in their semifinal victory, Carlton said. The Wolverines didn't bat as well as they normally do but had some scoring chances. "We didn't get it done," Carlton said. |
