Friday Harbor High School boys soccer team kept their winning streak going with a muddy 5-0 win over Lopez Monday night (Oct. 17, 2005).

Wolverine senior captain Eric Rothlisberger converted a breakaway in front of the muddy goal eight minutes into the match. The Wolverines peppered the goal, but Lopez goalkeeper kept FHHS out until senior midfielder Chris Benz bent a corner kick in to sophomore Erik Nash at the center of the six-yard box, who nodded it in at 29 minutes.

The second half was more of the same, with FHHS controlling play but finally converting a left-side cross from freshman midfielder Cameron Byington to a waiting Mario Nunez in front of the goal, which the junior strike tucked away with fifteen minutes left.

Moments later, Nunez drove the ball to the endline before dropping a perfect cross to Rothlisberger for the score. Lopez allowed an own goal as Byington curled a corner kick into the goal to bounce off a Lopez defender, for the final margin.

The defense of soph Kevin O'Connor, senior Daniel Jones, soph Shay Byington, and soph Louis Paul, led by senior keeper Paul Guard, registered their fourth shutout in a row.

Lopez's record is now 5-4; the Wolverines are 9-0-1. The Wolverines play again Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. vs Shoreline Christian.
