Wolverines take home the Island Cup first page of photos

Tyler Hart and David Ahrenius each rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Cole Franklin threw a pair TD passes as Friday Harbor swamped Orcas Island 57-7 Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 on a blustery, soggy, muddy afternoon.
"We're just thrilled to take the Island Cup back home with us," said Friday Harbor coach Richard Ledford.

"It was a lot of fun. The muck was good," said Chas Lawson, another senior.
"It's good to defeat Orcas again," said Ahrenius, a senior.
The Wolverines, ranked second in Class 1A polls, improved to 7-0 in Northwest A/B League play and 10-0 overall. They meet Ilwaco in a preliminary round of the state playoffs at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 in Edmonds Stadium.
Orcas, 3-4 in conference and 6-4 overall, open the B-11 playoffs against South Bend at 7 p.m. in Centralia Nov. 8, 2005.
Friday Harbor went up 30-0 in the first half before Orcas scored on a 57-yard pass from Jos Mayson to Chandler Stone.
Ahrenius rumbled 47-yards to the end zone and dove in from a yard out. Hart scored on 5- and 21-yard touchdown runs. Cole Franklin threw for two touchdowns: a 28 yards to Trent Roberts and 38 yards to Brock McNairy. Loch Stimpson scored on a 15-yard run and Tyler Dixon plunged in from 5 yards out. Stimpson tallied two 2-point conversion runs. Franklin also had a 2-point run and threw to Matthew Porter for another 2-point conversion. Dwight Ware kicked a PAT.
The Wolverines tallied 336 yards offense: 271 on the ground and 65 in the air.
Ahrenius led the Wolverines with 101 yards rushing. Hart gained 54 and Stimpson had 43. Tyler Dixon compiled 29 and Michael Knowles had 23.
McNairy was the top Wolverine tackler with 8. Other tackle leaders for the Wolverines were: Chad Stoddard 7, Tim Cumming 6, Brit Banry 6, Willi Burns 6.
Stimpson, Ahrenius and Blake Guard recovered fumbles. McNairy and Hart picked passes.
