Pete GrosJacques cruises to 215-pound title at Sultan Invite

Friday Harbor senior Pete GrosJacques cruised through the competition at the 10-team Sultan Invitational and won the 215-pound title Saturday, Jan. 7.

GrosJacques pinned Darrington's Joe Bill in less than a minute in the championship match.

Jim Gossom (160) and Carl Schmidt (119), also Friday Harbor seniors, finished fifth in their weight classes.

Juanita won the tourney with 211 points. Other team scores are: Sultan 193, Cascade-Leavenworth 153, Skyline 145, Eastside Catholic 132, Bonney Lake 123, Darrington 121, unattached 109, Chief Sealth 106.5, Foster 60, Friday Harbor 59, Skyline 7.

Friday Harbor hosts La Conner at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12.

Carl Schmidt notches pin against Loggers

Friday Harbor senior Carl Schmidt stopped Darrington's Richard Groh in the first period but the visiting Loggers pinned down the Northwest A/B League victory 56-18 Thursday, Jan. 5.

In other Friday Harbor match victories Jacob Foley (135) shut out Joe Dolph 7-0; Jim Gossom thumped Curtis Masanis 19-4; and Pete GrosJacques (215) beat Trevor Hurston 11-4.
