Eight Wolverine wrestlers advance to regional tourney

Friday Harbor’s Jacob Foley claimed the 135-pound title at the Northwest A/B League Tournament Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 and Jim Gossom (160) and Pete GrosJacques (215) earned second-place finishes.

"That was the first time I placed first in a tournament," Foley said. "It felt pretty good, pretty satisfying."

The Wolverines placed third at the meet, won by Concrete. Darrington finished second and La Conner was fourth.

Carl Schmidt (119), Kyle Miller (140), Paul Espinoza (160) and Mike Fyrqvist (171) posted third-place finishes for the Wolverines. Mike GrosJacques (145) took fourth.

The top four district finishers advance to the regional tournament at Bellevue Christian High School Saturday, Feb. 11.

Jared Lodholm (130) placed fifth and will attend the regional meet as an alternate.
